On the way home we stopped in Weaverville and ate at the German restaurant. What a treat! I have not had a lot of German food, but its all been good and this was no exception. Just have to share these photos, especially the interiors. Looks like art material to me. Love the wolf over the fireplace.
Had a great time at the Southern HIghlands Craft Show in Asheville, NC. Of course, for me the highlight of the show was a visit to my sister's booth, Robin Ford. She is a juried member of the guild under textiles, a word that does not even begin to describe her mastery of batik. This gorgeous piece is called "Valley of Snowbird." Just love it!

Such a beautiful bird and so baffling... had to go on the internet to find some pictures of it since he flew away too quick... Its raining like stink here, of course it is raining everywhere right now apparently. He was such a nice, fat, plump little bird too. My bird really had the heavy "eye make-up" of the birds with the horizontal lines on the head... and beautiful rose colored breast. If you are not familiar with it, its a juvenile male Rose-Breasted Grosbeak!
Its raining and raining here. Uhg I think we could wash away! Good thing I got some pictures taken yesterday of some of my new work. This is "Morning Has Broken," a quilt in my "Grasslands" series. I debated on the name, first it was "Secrets in the Grass," and then "In My Meadow," but the birds just kept reminding me of that great old song!
