This shop is so inspiring I just have to tell you about it. If you go to Knoxville, visit The Paris Apartment in the Western Plaza. It has the neatest clothes and home accessories... all unique... and the Paris fragrances! yum! Some beautiful tea-dyed garments made especially for them! So much inspiration!
Today was ribbon dyeing day for my crazy quilt. It needs ribbon flowers. Also have a pot on the stove for "tea dyes" to make some "old" looking brownish ribbons. My fingers are all dyed too!
It is so easy and you can get that old fashioned mottled look very easily.
This is a quilt I made a couple of years ago but never posted. Its claim to fame is the fact these pieces, especially the weird black and yellow "Pac man" looking ones and triangles are all inset, not pieced. So it was an exercise in learning a technique. I also drew up the pattern and made a full size "cartoon" or pattern to go by.
I have always been an artist and with art quilts I have found a way to combine my two loves of painting and textiles.
