Love this shop... its right at the south edge of Sebring. Right past where the Sebring 12 Hour Race is held. Patrick Dempsey "McDreamy" always races in this... he's not dreamy in my book, but that is another story. The little chick is great-granddaughter of the owner. She runs the store and her daughter, grand-daughter and this one were there yesterday. The little gal says she has been quilting since 3.

This quilt belongs to my friend Leona Pelham and was made in 1918. Her grandmother gave it to her; it was made from the men's pants samples that a traveling salesman carried. What ingenuity! I love it; I think it looks like modern art. Its almost 100 years old and has kept a lot of people warm and happy.
I'm ready to lay out the Guinea Gurlz on their backing and batting and get them quilted! But there is something on my quilt table.... Its Husband Dear! He is still on the quilt table! Well, at night it is called our bed.... but it is the biggest, flattest thing around and I always do the layouts there.... oh dear.... what to do? the creative urge is ready.... Settle for second best... the futon opened out in the sewing room is lower, (read back breaking) smaller but its elected!!
Taking a little time off from my Guinea Gurlz quilt and tried out these crazy quilt blocks. Next I will embellish them with stitch and lace... should be fun. Its raining and Slow As A Snail Building Company of Okeechobee, FL worked on our decks Saturday but ever since, no one has come back. Husband Dear called them and the "boss lady" said, oh the guys are working out of town today. REALLY??? REALLY? We have had them hired for this "job" since November! and told them it had to be done by May.... we only have a couple of days left of work.... how hard is it to finish it??? Hence the "crazies" I guess.... need to keep from going that way! This sweet block is probably my favorite so far. I printed the bathing girls from a CD that came with a book on how to embellish clothing for a vintage look.
Here we are finally working on the fun quilt representing my guinea "gurlz". They are not all gurlz, (read girls) but they just seem like they should be called that... maybe its how they scrap.... maybe guinea sisters? Stay tuned for more guinea events!!!!!!!!!!
I saw this super winter garden in March when my friend was harvesting all kinds of goodies... but this garden is a year round event and it is so easy to take of... no bending over for watering and weeding.
