I'm excited to have been juried in to the Fiber577 show of 2014 and the after show at Angelwood Gallery in Perrysburg, OH. My quilts are getting to travel more than me. It looks like it is going to be a great show and they will post on facebook once everything is in place.

Home of the perfect waves and weather. Not too many people either, just right! We saw this crab and lots of other cool, underwater denizens in Panacea at the Gulf Coast Speciman Company owned and operated by Jack Rudloe. It is a super educational venue for kids and they are set up to handle school bus loads of them. Very nice place to learn all about the marine environment and lots of touch tanks.
Pasqual did not want to touch anything... Traveling is great inspiration... water is the best inspiration for me. I love the blues and greens of the Florida springs and here are some inspiration photos from my traveling gnome Pasqual and me when we visited Rainbow Springs.
This art quilt includes a lot of thread painting on the birds. I think baby cockatiels are so adorable. We have had several of these birds and they are super affectionate. The thread painting was perfect to show their spiky baby feathers. I stenciled leaves over the other parts of the quilt to show their sanctuary of the nest, hidden away in the leaves of a tree.
I feel like it needs something else.... any ideas? Yes this is in my outdoor art studio! Oh and the temperatures have been in the nineties the last few days while we worked on it... sanding and sanding and sanding... then taping and papering to get it ready for the paint. Then here comes the rain. Thankfully we finished yesterday right before the flood got here! Now I can have my art area back!
This is one of those projects that the best advice is, "don't try this at home!" |
Sharon BuckI have always been an artist and with art quilts I have found a way to combine my two loves of painting and textiles. Archives
