I love the yearly SAQA Benefit Auction! I went through the entries so far and picked out all my favorites. If I could afford them I would love all of these. But at least I can "hang" them on my wall in the blog... Take a look for yourself and know they will be available to bid on in September at saqa.com

Some of this winter's work is finally finished... "Passionflower" combines applique and some of my original drawing. The small flower and butterfly were a silk painting I did and then I printed them on cotton and used them in this work also.
Week One of the 52 week challenge... Whalewatchers shows Samantha Jane and me at the beach with those crazy whales in the background. Looks like a wild time.
Trying out my rusty leather crafting skills I made this flower bouquet for the Everglades Leather Crafter's table at the International Leather Guilds show this summer. Bea likes to have something on the display table from each member and something "new" in leatherworking is hard to find so I hope this is a tiny bit of a trompe l' oeil and fools someone's eye at least for a bit! Now that I have worked some leather I am more than ready to get back to textiles!!!!!!!!!
Today seems a great time to start a year long challenge... I keep reading all these blog posts from other artists who had so much fun and learned so much by setting forth a challenge to themselves and then creating an art piece on a daily or weekly or monthly basis for a set period of time... so... here we go.
I am going to create a self portrait of some sort every week for a year! It can be any media... I can't wait to see what turns up. Here is a self portrait from a couple of years ago... based on me at age 5 in "art class." It doesn't "count" in the COUNT, but I am putting it up here to inspire me... |
